Girls and women twist a braid of white or yellow flowers into their hair each morning... strands of flowers are draped on cattle and carts and bus grills...

I can smell the fragrance from here in NBPT.

There were plenty of "fragrances" in the old market, not all of them floral... .

But most of them pleasant, or earthy, with even cattle and other animals pushing their way through a space not designed for all of us...

Oh, I forgot to mention that we were latched onto by a young man there, some 13 years old, perhaps. I thought oh, man, now we have to unleech ourselves again. He asked if we wanted to buy something, and when we shrugged his advances off, he said "Psst, Mister, just be careful, no buy sandal oils in the market, not good oils, make you sick!"

The sincerity and well-wishing in his voice made me stop and turn, and thank him with equal sincerity... Unexpected kindnesses...
